Installation Guide

The MAGFIX Fire Extinguisher Pattress and Bracket are simple to install on to almost any surface. The following instructions are for installation on to metal surfaces such as steel walls and girders. The same pattress can be used for stone and masonry walls by using the screw fixings. Please read all instructions and warnings before installing the MAGFIX pattress.

Prepare the surface

Remove all dirt and grease from mounting surface using methylated spirit with a clean cloth, or alcohol wipes.

Safety note: The mounting surface must be flat for the entire area covered by the magnetic surface.

Attach the mounting bracket

Attach the appropriate mounting bracket to the studs (using the nuts and washers supplied) and align the bracket square to the vertical (see below).

  • Neck mounted brackets should have the hook towards the top of the plate.
  • Bottle mounted brackets should have the hook towards the bottom of the plate.
Measure the distance

Measure the distance

Measure 1.1 metres from the ground and make a mark on the girder or steel wall, this will give a maximum  handle height of 1.0 metre when fitted.

As per BS5306-8;2012

Line up the plate

Line up the plate

Line up the top of the plate with the mark (As shown) to allow a level assembly. Use the hook as an aid to lowering the plate as shown.

Once you are satisfied the plate is level pivot the plate downwards to meet the surface fully.

WARNING!! the magnet is very powerful keep fingers away from the edge.

Mount the extinguisher

You will note that both neck mounted and bottle mounted line up with each other if installed correctly.

Extinguisher:   Size / types

  • 3L, 6L and 9L foam or water based extinguishers
  • 3kg, 4kg, 6kg and 9kg  ABC Powder
  • 2kg and 5kg Co2 (see reverse side for fitting)

NOT FOR USE WITH 1kg or 2kg ABC powder
